Our History

Ed W. Clark High School was established in 1965.  Twenty-nine years later, on 1 June 1994, by order of the Chief of Naval Education and Training, Clark High School commissioned its Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC) with almost 100 students/cadets.

Through the decades, Clark High School has consistently earned the Bravo Zulu Award for outstanding Area Manager Inspections/Annual Military Inspections and the Distinguished Unit Award.

The Distinguished Unit Award is awarded to schools that rank within the top 30 percent of all NJROTC Units within their respective area.  Ed W. Clark High School NJROTC Battalion is 1 of 52 schools within Area 13, which encompasses 44 schools within the Continental United States (CONUS) and 8 Outside the Continental United States (OCONUS) including Alaska, Guam, Japan, and Hawaii.

Our Mission and Future

Our future is even brighter than our rich past.

Driven by our mission:

"To instill the values of citizenship, service to the community and the United States, as well as personal responsibility and a sense of accomplishment to all cadets; and to provide the opportunity to become effective leaders and productive members of society."

We intend to achieve greatness by embodying our Battalion's Philosophy -  TEAM:  Together Everyone Achieves More.

Together - We are not just another class, club, or activity.  We are a UNIT that fosters an environment of pride, fellowship, and common loyalty deeply rooted in our Cadet Creed and our Navy Core Values of Honor, Courage, and Commitment.

Everyone - We are SHIPMATES who take care of each other.

Achieves - We have identified and documented GOALS that we strive to achieve daily.

More - We bring out the best in each other through effective TEAMWORK.

Mission + Battalion's Philosophy + Resources = Inspired and Motivated Cadets who will achieve greatness and accomplish their goals.  That greatness consists of and will be measured as follows:

50% of our Cadet population are accepted to institutions of higher learning - colleges and universities.

25% of our Cadet population enlisting in the military.

15% of our Cadet population are accepted into their desired Trade School.

8% of our Cadet population are job market-ready immediately following graduation.
